What is the
difference between a manufactured home and a modular home?
Manufactured
and modular homes are built to two different building codes.
Manufactured
homes are built according to the federal (HUD) building code.
Modular homes
are built according to individual state building codes.

Is it
required that I set my new home on a permanent foundation?
It depends on
your home.
A modular home
(wood frame) must be set on a permanent foundation or
basement.
A manufactured
home (metal frame) can either be set on a permanent foundation
or basement, or it can be set on concrete pads with block
piers. |
|
How can a
home be financed?
It depends on
how the home is set.
A home set on a
permanent foundation or basement becomes real property since
it is attached to the land.
As such it is
financed by a residential mortgage available through a bank or
mortgage broker.
A home set on
concrete piers is considered to be personal property and is
financed by a personal property loan. |

Can I have a
